Although, Even though and Though | XII Class Lesson

Although, Even though dan Though adalah conjuctions (kata penghubung) yang harus diikuti clause (klausa terdiri dari subject dan verb) dan memiliki arti yang sama (walaupun, meskipun, sekalipun, dan biarpun). 

Kedua kata tersebut digunakan untuk awal pada subordinate clause, dan mengekspresikan suatu contrasting (perbandingan atau perbedaan).


Rumus:
Although, Even though, Though + (Subordinate Clause), Main Clause.
Athough/Even though/Though it is raining, the students will come to school.
Meskipun sekarang hujan, peserta didik akan datang ke sekolah.

Kita bisa memulai dengan main clause tanpa mengubah makna:
The students will come to school, (main clause) athough it is raining. (subordinate clause)
Contoh lainnya:
|Although/even though/though my condition is not good, I can meet you at school.
|I can meet you at school, although/even though/though my condition is not good.

|Although/even though/though she was much taller than me, she could not jump and reach the ring.
|She could not jump and reach the ring, although/even though/though she was much taller than me.

Dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris terkadang kita menggunakan though daripada although. Kita dapat menggunakan even though daripada although/though untuk menambah penegasan.

Though dapat berfungsi sebagai adverb (kata keterangan) maknanya mirip dengan however, despite, atau nevertheless memiliki arti (namun; meskipun demikian) dan posisinya dapat berada di akhir sebuah kalimat.


Contoh:
|His joint pain and stiffness disappeared. Not for long, though.
Rasa sakit dan kekakuan pada sendinya hilang. Namun tidak lama.

|The speaker was nervous. Only at the beginning of his presentation though.
Pembicara tersebut gugup. Namun hanya dipermulaan presentasinya.
